2016 - THAT'S A WRAP!!

2016 - THAT'S A WRAP!!!

2016 has been a year of a lot of "firsts" for me.  Having never done any travel before, I set off to visit a few places I had never seen.  I know many of you have seen these places but for me it was all a first,  so very special indeed!  My three favourite images of the year below are the ones that hold special memories for me, times I will never forget.  Just looking at each image takes me immediately back to that moment, and I remember exactly how I felt while taking that picture, making it even more special to me.  That's why I love photography so much, as it takes me instantly to that moment I was in, the sounds, the smells, the view, how inspired and alive I felt ..........

Hiking the Amphitheatre was a wonderful challenge and I can look back now with great memories of a challenging hike, with awe inspiring vistas, some scary bits up the chain ladders , but glorious views at the top!!

It was all pretty surreal and my favourite image from that hike is the first mornings sunrise!!  It was breathtakingly beautiful, and the sheer size and magnitude of the mountains can never be shown in a single photo, its just too huge, but I loved the clouds far below and the sun bursting through them!! A special moment.

Next I travelled to Cape Town and had a wonderful trip visiting Blouberg Strand, Paternoster and Gordons Bay!  All a first for me so it  really was amazing.  We live in paradise... literally with the beautiful scenic drives and seeing iconic Table Mountain from the beach is just incredible. This is my favourite image from my Cape Town trip!  I spent most of the morning after this collecting seashells which I brought home with me and are now in a glass jar on my dining room table... another reminder of the special memories I have of this trip.

And finally the third image that will forever remain in my heart, is the image I took of a young female leopard that landed me a place as a finalist  in the Sunday Times Wildnerness Photographer of the year 2016!! Wow , first time seeing leopards (a dream come true!!) , and first time entering... and I am a finalist!  I had to pinch myself a few times over this one!!! Phew... really and truly an exciting few months to the build up of the announcement of the winner.  Even though I didn't win it was great fun and definately a highlight of my photography career so far.    To say these leopards have captured my love forever is an understatement, and these beautiful, captivating cats will remain my favourite forever.  Thank you Tiyani for being the cutest leopard alive and winning me a prize in this prestigious competition... I will never forget you!

And so I hope you enjoyed the highlights of my 2016!!  I enjoyed every minute of taking these images and sharing them with you all.  I want to thank each and everyone of you who has supported me throughout the year,  you really make the journey worthwhile and I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a wonderful 2017 with many exciting adventures.  It's been wonderful ....and   2017.....I"m ready for you!!!!

Lots of love
